EMS Whole Body Training
What Is EMS training?
EMS stands for Electromyostimulation. EMS is a whole-body training method that combines the electric activation of muscle fibres with simple and targeted body weight exercises. Using medically certified equipment, it is carried out under the guidance and instruction of out trained physiotherapists and sports therapists.
An external EMS device sends a finely tuned electrical signal to the muscles, causing them to contract. The signal mimics the natural signal sent by the brain to the muscles but is more powerful.
Combined with a ‘free will contraction’ during an exercise, and the external stimulus from the EMS device, individuals activate up to 98% of their muscle fibres.
The electrodes are woven into a fabric vest-belt-system. These are worn over a special functional garment. The emitted electrical pulses are low-frequency, triggering a brief muscle contraction. With repeated delivery of these electrical impulses, they cause extensive activation in the corresponding muscle fibres which is where this type of training comes into its own over conventional gym weight training.
What to Expect in our Full Body Training Session:
Want A 20 Minute Workout Equivalent To 2.5 Hours In The Gym?
A training session lasts just 20 minutes and is always conducted with a qualified trainer who monitors the training and its success. Once a week is sufficient for reliably achieving individual goals, with its effectiveness proven in numerous scientific studies.
Who Is EMS Training For?
EMS Training is extremely versatile and low impact, making it a perfect form of fitness for virtually anyone from teenager to elderly. No longer reserved for just elite athletes, EMS personal training is now available to everyone to try here at WDC Physiotherapy.
Gym-Shy or Time-Poor
EMS is great for those wanting to enhance their gym training sessions but it also appeals to those who don’t like the typical gym environment. EMS sessions are carried out on a one-on-one basis with one of our physiotherapists or sports therapists, so the personal aspect is great for those who find the gym floor or group exercise studio intimidating.
One 20-minute session once per week is all that’s required for people to see results. For that reason, it is a great option for busy professionals or parents who can’t make time for the gym.
Joint Friendly Training
Due to the absence of additional weights, an EMS session is easy on the joints. Especially compared to the required intensities that are needed to strengthen muscles with conventional lifting exercises. So this is perfect for those struggling with joint pain and stiffness.
